Death by Chocolate

So...I met a new friend last week. One of those friends that really is not a good influence on you, but you somehow just keep finding yourself drawn to them. My new friend is Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream from Haagen Dazs.

Before you judge my choice of the word 'friend' please consider...Peanut butter. Chocolate. Both foods that are on my list of top 5 foods. Do you have one of those lists? Everyone really should. Mine is chocolate, peanut butter, bread, cheese and fruit. Knowing my top 5, you can see how I would naturally be drawn to this ice cream. True that this is not my first taste of chocolate peanut butter ice cream. I have long been a fan of Baskin-Robins' version. However, this new version has captivated my senses (mostly my taste). Perhaps it is because it is european that it seems so much cooler. Or maybe because I am 5 1/2 months pregnant.

We met rather happenstance at the Rite Aid. I was picking up some miscellaneous items and happened to glance at the ice cream freezer as I passed. Lo and behold, there was a sale. And the rest is history.

To understand why this new friend...or perhaps foe...is such a bad influence I must first share some background about my last few doctor appointments. My new doctor has continuously and strongly suggested I try to curb the weight gain for this pregnancy. Evidently I gained too much with Josiah. So in hopes to not be as big, and therefore not as swollen, uncomfortable, and at risk for this and that health condition, I have been trying to eat normal amounts and limit my sweets splurging.

Enter chocolate peanut butter ice cream. It would be one thing if this was a rare encounter, an every-so-often splurge. But there are 5 pints in my freezer. I will choose not to explain. It is also bad because a serving is 50 % of the fat I need in a day...and what they consider as a serving and what I consider as a serving are two very different things.

My weigh-in is in two days. A defining moment. If I weigh in okay, my new friend can stay close. If not...we'll see.

Highlight of my week: Making a list of the names we're considering for the baby.
